Welcome Ashlee Jean

Congratulations to Sarah and Paul on the birth of their new wee girl Ashlee Jean. She is very very cute and Joshua was quite taken with her when he met her at the hospital. Then he was very keen to go again with Daddy to "check she was okay" once she was at home. Maia and Xander are still to meet her but she probably needs a couple of weeks to deal with the big wide world before we unleash them on her hahahaha. I promise I am teaching them gentle hands!!!! I hope Sarah and Paul don't mind but I thought I would share this photo with you. After meeting Ashlee Joshua said "My heart is so happy with my new cousin" Our hearts are very happy too.

Mud glorious mud...

Today Joshua introduced the babies to mud!! Maia was most impressed but Xander kept to a safe distance. The only mud I found on him was applied courtesy of Joshua LOL. Maia needed no encouragement and quickly coated herself in a healthy layer of brown goo.

Joshua shows the twins how to slip in the mud

Maia makes a closer inspection

Joshua tries on a moss wig

Xander watches Joshua - I think that is his look of disbelief. Why would anyone want to play with mud!!

Xander: Keep that away from me!!

Ewwwww

Hmmm wonder if Mum is watching...

Xander running AWAY from the mud

Maia LOVES mud!!

Finally a shot of Maia and Xander together!!

Geodesic Fun!!

Joshua used some off his Christmas and birthday money from the past few years and bought a geodesic dome climbing frame from farmers today. It was $159 and is just awesome!! I think we will survive the holidays now hahahaha. He has been trying to climb and swing off everything so now he has somewhere to do that!!.Maia thought it was awesome and was swinging off it too. Next thing she flipped herself right over one of the bars and landed on her bum in a fit of giggles.... Wait is that grey hairs I see in the mirror? LOL

Sisterly love...

Maia shows her love for her twin brother in so many varied ways....for example the other night when we had to haul her out of the bath for attacking Xander and leaving pinch marks all over his torso!!

She redeemed herself the next day though when Xander was having a meltdown in reaction to having eaten mango. He was inconsolable and didn't want a hug but did want a hug but didn't....arrggghhh.... Maia grabbed his dummy and tried to pop it in his mouth. when that didn't work she went to his cot and got his bunny. He did accept the bunny and clung to it while screaming. Maia had obviously run out of ideas by this stage so decided to keep him company and sat so close she was almost sitting on him..Awwwww so cute.

Then later in the day when Xander was starving and screaming for dinner I offered them both a lil bit of bread to tide them over. Xander refused his and screamed louder. Maia ripped off a piece of her bread and popped it in his mouth. Xander laughed at being fed and ate it happily!!! Sister Maia to the rescue!!

How children hear things

It always makes me laugh listening to kids singing songs with slightly strange words or repeating sayings with the wrong words. This afternoon when Joshua was pretending to catch the cat (who had scratched him earlier so needed captured obviously) he pretended to throw a net and yelled "In the name of the NAKED wood I capture you" If you know Winnie the Pooh you would know that this was meant to be "In the name of the Hundred Acre Wood"
I had a good giggle.... and then I taught him the correct words....

Fraggle Rock 2008

Dear Nephew Gobo,
I went to Hawaii and I saw one of those bad silly creatures. Then it pointed a gun at me, then it shot at me so i grabbed that gun off it and shot back while I ran away.
Love from
Your Uncle Travelling Matt

Hmmmmmm this is what happens when Joshua pretends to be playing Fraggle Rock. But you know what if Uncle Travelling Matt was to visit many places in the world this would be close to reality... sad really....

Anything you can do....

... I can do better???

Yesterday afternoon Xander and Joshua were blowing raspberries on my tummy (great family fun LOL) and they both went to take a turn at the same time and clashed heads. So I had both boys on my lap crying their lil hearts out. Now Maia had seen all this happen and stood looking at the situation sort of quizzically. Then she started to approach Joshua. I thought 'maybe she is going to give him a cuddle' But then as she approached she suddenly sped up and planted a huge head butt right on Joshua's forehead where Xander had hit!!!! She looked at me and burst into tears and joined the pile of sobbing children all now jostling for a space on my lap???!!! Why why why on earth did she do it?? I was so shocked I couldn't help laughing out loud and that didn't impress Joshua much. In fact I had no idea how to console the three of them as they seemed to be feeding off one another and crying louder and louder so eventually I just yelled in a funny voice "Stooooooop crying" They all looked at me and got up and went on their merry way??? I am still shaking my head..... Children I don't get them!!

Domestic Goddess

If you had told me 10 yrs ago that by the age of 34 I would be a stay-at-home Mum to three kids and cooking all our own food from scratch I would have laughed at you... okay so I am not a domestic goddess yet (and may never be one since I HATE ironing so much that Joshua actually notices that I have ironed his clothes and thanks me LOL - I know I have scarred him for life!!) but maybe I can qualify as a demi-goddess.

Today i baked our own bread, made water crackers and vanilla biscuits. I also made a litre of yoghurt. Dinner was left-over stew from last night (made without additives) and home-made stewed apple and custard (made without using custard powder - yes it is possible). I never knew how much we take our food for granted!! And am amazed that there is soo much junk in our crackers etc when really they need only contain simple ingredients. My pantry is soooo different this week compared with last week. It is a lot less colourful and contains a lot more dry ingredients. i still have a lot to learn but it is really qite fun learning how to make foods that I had never stopped to ponder. I am excited about learning how to make my own lollies LOL (no-one said all our food had to be healthy as well as colour-free hahaha)

It is so worth it though - Xander is spot free again today and seems to be sleeping better.

How hot chocolate kills bugs....

This morning Joshua gave me a small insight into how the mind of a 4 yr old works. He told me he had a sore throat when he was eating breakfast so I got him some pamol for the pain. He sat quietly eating his rice bubbles and drinking his hot chocolate. Then he turned to me and said "The rice bubbles tickle the bad bugs in me so the pamol can catch them and put them in jail. And then when they are in jail the hot choclate pours over them so all the bad bugs are gone" Wow.. so this is what 4 yr olds think about???? Profound!!

Taupo 2008

Xander: "What a bore..."
Maia: "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............."

Joshua and his new friend
(that menacing looking horn is as nasty as it looks...
note how Joshua kept his distance in the photo LOL)

Joshua on a stone near Huka falls - not sure if he is Sumo or Maori??

Joshua jumping off the bouncing pillow

We had a wonderful time in Taupo. The only negative was the accommodation.
Taupo Top 10 had wonderful facilities but extremely POOR SERVICE!!! So I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I learnt a lot about travelling with kids in general but especially with twins.

1. Have lots of snacks on hand
2. Make sure a dummy and special teddy is within reach in any vehicle if you plan to travel any distance
3. Don't get a studio room - the babies need their own room unless you want to go to bed between 6pm and 7pm !!
4. It pays to have a change of clothes for Mum in the day bag too ;o)
5. Plan in advance where you can go at 6am if your kids are all up and trying to wake the neighbours. Taupo playground was cold but great on the waterfront but the Huka Falls had locked gates at 7am when we tried to visit LOL

The babies travelled reasonably well. Maia was great but Xander needed lots of attention in the car. Not sure i could manage a long haul flight with Maia and Xander yet!!!

We were all exhausted by the end of it and Maia was sooo happy to be home she clapped when she saw the house but overall our first family holiday was a great success.

Salicylate Intolerance (Aspirin Allergy)

Well after a couple of weeks of spots we know know that Xander (and Maia to a lesser extent) has a salicylate intolerance / sensitivity. So basically if he eats anything coloured or flavoured he breaks out in hives!! As a result Brian and I have decided to spurn processed foods and I will become the quintessential 1940s housewife. This weekend I have made yoghurt, baked bread, made biscuits and crumble for pudding. Next on my list is making custard without using custard powder and pear jam!!! And i may even try to teach myself how to make lollies so that the babies can have an additive free treat at Joshua's birthday in December. We hope that by eliminating salicylate rich processed foods it will allow Xander to enjoy a small amount of salicylate rich fruit when it is in season!!! It would be a shame if he couldn't enjoy strawberries at Christmas!!

Seeing spots

Xander is spotty!! We have been reintroducing dairy over the past week so I think maybe he is reacting. Not sure really... The Doc should give us a better idea tomorrow.

With twins the chances of being woken at night is pretty high. Last night Xander had the best night in ages. So of course Maia had a shocker and woke every couple of hours. And in between her stirs of course Joshua woke up too. Fun and games!!! But it won't last long and in no time at all we will be turfing them out of their beds at 10am LOL

Although he is covered in spots Xander is amazingly happy. He even managed to stand up on his own in the middle of the floor today. He looked so proud. Now that he has achieved that he is fully mobile. He can stand up and walk anywhere he pleases...

Maia is a daredevil and stands on chairs to present lectures to us all (complete with much hand waving and gabbering). They have started to have little babbling conversations with one antoher. It is very cute... Almost makes one forget those terrible sleepless nights (almost...)

Reflections...

It is hard to believe that a year has passed already!! It is strange to think that a year ago I was sitting here wondering when I would ever sleep, shower or finish a meal again. It was about this time last year that we were coming home from the hospital with two skinny wee babies dependant on us for everything. Now those babies are chubby cheeky rascals who are rapidly becoming more and more independent.

In retrospect the first year with twins was hard. Some days it was like being on a production line.... feed, wipe, change, bed..... There was very little time for "me" and very little time for Brian and I as "us" But you get through it because you know this stage lasts such a very short time and in no time at all we will be wondering where the baby years went. As soon as I found out I was pregnant with twins i decided to have zero expectations and to take things as they came. That was a good plan!! If the babies didn't want to sleep or threw another curve ball it was easier to handle when i wasn't putting pressure on myself to make them fit a particular mould.

I did and still do have to keep reminding myself that they are individuals and what suits one may not necessarily suit the other. In fact Xander and Maia are so different it is not funny. A number of people have commented on the fact that they were born the same day, to the same parents and are treated exactly the same BUT they are like chalk and cheese. Their wee personalities have shone from the beginning. But because they are so different they wanted to sleep and eat at different times too. Like every twin Mum before me and all those to come I was given LOTS of advice and well meaning people insisted that I make the twins eat and sleep at the same time. I tried it and gave up when it became clear that trying to make them follow the same routine was like tying to fit a square peg into a round hole!!! So i let them call the shots and now they are one they have decided that eating and sleeping at the same time is a good plan.

But despite all the sleepless nights and full full days I feel like i have been given a special gift with the twins - it is so special to stop and just watch them. It is amazing to watch them interact with each other and with their older brother. It makes your heart swell!!! i have also been so proud of Joshua and how he has coped with the Twinvasion!! He is a wonderful big brother and has managed to accept the babies with very little jealousy (apart from around their first birthday LOL).

One of the hardest things to deal with while the twins were young was other people's negative comments. My way of coping daily is to try to be extremely positive so negative comments from complete strangers always threw me. If I am living it and can still be positive how dare they try to drag me down to their pessimistic level. It actually makes me quite mad and my family know how grumpy i can get when people are being negative around me Hahahaha.

Having young twins has meant that we have had to make a number of compromises in our lives and can't do all the things we used to do. With Joshua we attended Gymbaroo, Mainly Music and got out of the house almost every morning to do something. But with Maia and Xander the wet weather has put paid to almost every planned activity as we would all get drenched just trying to get to the car. So life has slowed down a bit in some ways but honestly it is quite nice not to be rushing from place to place for a change. The are happy and don't care or even know that they are missing out on activities. There is plenty of time for all that later... may be in summer LOL.

It is hard to remember that Maia, our speed toddling climber, and Xander, our lego builder, were wee tiny babies just a year ago. But I am not sad. I am really looking forward to the year ahead and watching how their personalities unfurl....

Maia and Xander are 1 !!!

Maia and Xander turned one yesterday and we had their big birthday bash today!! 34 adults and 16 kids piled into our place and had a wonderful party. The theme was Toy Story so Maia and Xander could model their gorgeous cowboy and cowgirl outfits Yumi's Mum sent from the States and Joshua was Buzz Light Year. A few of the other kids came dressed up too - Joshua H was an awesome spiderman and his lil sister Emma was a very pretty fairy. The Downies win the award for the best dressed-up family though with Campbell, Cushla, Gavin and Alika all coming in costume!!! I was most impressed!! If there was a prize they would have won!! Noddy paid a visit too and Joshua was tickled pink!! It was a fun day.

Oh...party funny to share. A few people left and I gave them their goodie bags. And Joshua asked for his and I said, "no, not yet as their are still other kids here and they haven't got their's yet." 15mins later he must have got sick of waiting and started walking around telling everyone "Warning, warning, alert, alert... the party is finished... the party is over" !!!!!!! I didn't hear him but I did hear the laughter from the other parents... oh the shame.... LOL So i promptly handed out all the party bags and assured everyone the party was still going LOL

First steps and the toothless terror

Xander took 3 steps yesterday!! It won't be long before he is running around with his sister.

A toothless terror no longer!! 9 days before her birthday Maia has cut her first tooth. It is just a sharp edge but still a tooth :o)

Banana Birds

Dad just rang to say that on the way to preschool Joshua was talking about Banana Birds...?? And Dad being funny said "And what do they eat?" Joshua gave him the look and answered "Well they don't eat weetbix"

Joshua is Getting Married

Well not for a while yet anyway... According to Joshua he is waiting until Emily is my age and then he will marry her and have babies. He will live in a house next to Mummy's with a bridge in between so that he can go out and leave the babies with me. Maia and Xander and their future partners will be in houses also neighbouring my property!! When I said to Joshua that he might find someone else to marry rather than Emily he initially said he would "marry all the girls without babies yet"!! When I told him he couldn't do that and had to chose one he said he would marry Emily then "cause she is my best marrying friend"!!

As well as planning his future he is working hard on building up his mother's self esteem... Joshua hopped in the shower with me tonight, turned and said "Wow what a big fat tummy you have mummy!" and proceeded to pat my belly. What a blow to the ego...

First Steps

Maia took her first steps today!!! She is 10 months 3 weeks old and beginning to walk already!! Yikes - what am I in for LOL
She is walking from room to room using the wall at the moment too. She will not sit!!
BUT she is still toothless - wonder when she will find time to sprout some teeth?

Xander is free-standing now but not for long and definitely not taking steps yet. I reckon next week at the very earliest.

Joshua is good. He is loving his big boys room downstairs - especially now he has a cork board for his pictures etc. He was in the car going to preschool with Grandad on Friday and they were listening to the radio. Joshua looked outside at the trees blowing in the wind and he said "Look at that Grandad, the trees are dancing to our music" Oh how nice it would be to see the world the way a child sees it!!

Mountain Goat!!!

Maia is a lil mountain goat!!! She can climb anything. In the past three days I have removed from the lounge... one mini tramp (Maia worked out she could stand on it and party), one cat chair (Maia worked out she could climb on it and then stand up and party) and one children's picnic table (yep... Maia worked out how to sit on top and PARTYYY!!)

Xander is more interested in the cat than in climbing at the moment. When I was changing Maia's nappy i looked up to see him on top of the cat trying out his new teeth..eeeeek. My children know NO fear!!

Maia is walking behind a push along toy very capably these days, she even steers it to get to her destination. Xander gets dragged along a bit but is still very able. He has 6 teeth and is working on more but Maia has none. BUT she eats like she has a full set - it is amazing. Xander will eat anything but Maia hates hates HATES puree. She will spit it on to her hand and feed it back to her self and then spread some round the walls etc. It is disgusting. She loves finger foods. I think they must be hungry or something cause they stole a slice of bread from the bench (didn't know they could reach that high) and shared it between themselves this afternoon. Of course I never feed them ;o)

Joshua is wonderful. he is enjoying preschool and is thriving on the religious education at the moment (last week he said he was going to be a priest when he grew up). Although some of his interpretations are a bit off. He prayed to Jimmy Neutron last night to get some more rail track and when that didn't work he realised that he got it wrong that he needed to pray to God. Ummmmm we had a chat about not praying for "things" you want and not praying to Jimmy Neutron!!

I almost forgot to update what they can say now...
Maia says: Hi-5, Grandad, Dada
Xander says: Mumma, Anma (Grandma), Allo
They both mimic each others names every now and then.

Joshua has also moved downstairs into his own room. He wanted to read books on his own before lights out so sharing with the babies made that too difficult. He loves it and is seeming very grown-up.

Xander Bear

Xander Bear is crawling on his hands and knees and is almost as fast as his sister. He also loves the cat but has the scars to prove the feeling is not mutual. Xander loves to stand and survey his world. He will smile at anyone in his vicinity. He has 5 teeth already and is NOT a good teether. He makes sure we know he is teething loudly and in the early hours of the morning. He loves to climb and is very good at it (note to self: do not leave Joshua's mini tramp next to the couch again!!)Xander's favourite game is peek-a-boo and will have him giggling for hours. He is also very ticklish. He likes to chat when he can get a word in edgeways with Maia ;o) and sounds as if he is trying to say "Hi" and "Mum"

Miss Maia

Maia is crawling very fast on her hands and knees. She can stand for a few seconds unsupported and tries to walk around the furniture. She has a love hate relationship with the cat and bears the scars to prove it. She doesn't much like pureed food and prefers to spit puree on to her hands and smoosh it everywhere. She is a chatterbox and makes sure you know if you have wronged her. She is also a giggly wee miss.

Boy (4) attacked by Dinosaur

Local boy Joshua (4) is bearing the scars of a recent dinosaur attack. According to Joshua he was happily playing dinosaur hunt at pre-school when one solid plastic dinosaur leapt off the shelf and whacked him across the face. Eye witnesses report seeing a young blonde curly haired boy assisting the assailant.

Unique names!!

Katherine brought her two kids around today to play. In the evening Joshua was telling Dad all about his day while I pottered about the kitchen listening. This is what I heard...

Joshua "Aunty Katherine has a new baby Daddy"
Daddy "that is right Joshua. Do you know her name"
Joshua "Yep, it is show and tell"

Brian and I almost killed ourselves laughing.

I guess show and tell sounds similar to Chantal

Time flies...

Well it has been a while since i blogged about the babies and Joshua. There have been so many changes since I last blogged.

Joshua has discovered Thunderbirds!!! And is absolutely crazy about them. He is on holiday from preschool at the moment but will start 5 morning a week next term.

Xander can get himself to a seated position now and is standing holding on to the furniture. He can also climb amazingly well. He climbed up on to Joshua's mini tramp yesterday which is quite and impressive feat. Xander has also cut 4 teeth!! He is NOT a good teether though and those 4 teeth have caused a number of tears!! On a more positive note he LOVES playing peekaboo

Maia is crawling on all fours now and is started to walk along the furniture. Maia is also a fantastic climber but she likes to dance best. If you say "dance" or "boogie" she bops on the spot. Very cute. She also has learnt to give raspberries. She blew raspberries on Brian's hand and belly today. Too cute!!

Twinz website

In my masses of free time (LOL)I have made a website for twin mums in New Zealand to get info on pregnancy and having twins. I have made a forum too so mums can chat and get/give advice. Hopefully it will be useful to someone....

Toilet Humour

Tonight before his shower Joshua spent a fair amount of time on the loo. When he finished he said he had done a poo but when I looked in the loo (as you do when you're a Mum LOL) and said "But that is just a tiny poo" Joshua looked at me very seriously and announced "Mummy, sometimes big poos have baby poos" I nearly killed myself laughing.

Happy Easter

Space Ranger Green watches over the Easter treats...

I hope everyone has had a lovely Easter with their families. Joshua has had a wonderful day and can't wait to go to Grannies tomorrow for some more fun. The Easter Bunny very generously got him an egg that included a sponge Bob watch. It was a hit!! Maia and Xander are too young to know what all the fuss is about but enjoyed playing with their new soft toys and chewing boxes.

Maia learnt to crawl up the stairs at Mum's today....sigh.... She is sooo adventurous and into everything. Now she has learned to climb up stairs we had better teach her how to come down them too. Maia also managed to get her self up to a sitting position yesterday.

Xander's current trick is fully body push ups. He pushes his whole body up off the ground leaving only his hands and toes in contact with the floor. It is so impressive.

Both have been struggling with reflux again so we are trialling probiotics, pineapple juice and papaya. So far it seems to have helped but only time will tell.

Anyway Happy Easter everyone!!

Joshua hard at work doing his beloved "Busy Books"

"Xander Bear"

"Swiper"

Swiper!!

I got told off by Joshua today!!
Maia swiped a toy off Xander and I said
"We'll have to call you Swiper the Fox now, Maia"
Joshua who was sitting on my lap feeling a bit precious having just woken from an afternoon nap (an unusual occurrence in this house)burst in to tears "Don't say that Mummy. They are MY babies" Later on when he was a bit calmer he said "Daddy, don't call Maia and Xander silly names. They are MY Maia and Xander. Just Maia and Xander." So we discussed it a little bit and he said that the silly names scared him a little. I couldn't get to the bottom of what exactly it is about silly names that scares him but he made it abundantly clear that Maia and Xander have names and that is what we should use at all times LOL. (By the way I must say Brian was miffed that Joshua told him off for the silly name incident when it was all me. He wanted to know why he got singled out for the blame later on hahaha)

Leave me alone!

i swear joshua is 4 going on 14!! Yesterday when i asked him to come off the computer to get dressed and ready for preschool he wasn't very happy about it but grudgingly did as he was asked. But not before he told me to "leave me alone" The tone was just teenage perfect!! I cracked up laughing when he said it although I knew i should probably have used my best stern Mummy look. Boy oh boy he is growing up fast.

Xander is on the move!!

Last night Xander achieved significant forward motion!! He has started to commando crawl like Maia. Though his technique is more like caterpillar commando style....eeek our babies are on the move!! I am not looking forward to them moving rapidly in opposite directions. Anyone know where i can get a spare pair of eyes ;o)

Some privacy please!!

Gosh if I needed another reminder about how quickly Joshua is growing up, I certainly got that reminder today. We were getting ready for a swim in Aunty J's spa pool and I brought Joshua's togs through to the lounge to get him changed. he looked around the room and said quietly "We have to hide Mummy so people can't see me" Cute!! I took him to the bathroom to get him changed and he even asked for the door to be closed so that "people can't see me" LOL What a mother must do to protect her son's modesty ;o)

X

We popped into Mum's this morning on our way to preschool and Chelle was there home sick. When Joshua found out she was home sick he said "I am going to put an X on the door so nobody can go in that room cause she is sick." Poor Chelle will be thinking she has the plague LOL

Commando!

Maia started to commando crawl today!!
This morning Joshua said "Mummy Maia can crawl now" Thinking Joshua was being a bit generous in his description of Maia's rolling around the room i answered "No she can't. But she soon will be" Well Joshua got mighty annoyed and said "Don't say that!! She CAN crawl" I wasn't looking for a fight so I changed the subject. So anyway this afternoon Miss Maia did the commando crawling in front of Grandma, Grandad and myself. Joshua heard us say "Wow she is crawling" and he laughed and said "see Mummy I said she could crawl"
I guess Joshua saw Maia crawl first this morning when I was in the kitchen and i didn't believe him. ooops.

Funky Monkey, Chunky Monkey and Punky Monkey

My kids have been renamed as per the title. Wonder if you can guess who is who?!

Joshua said he wants more babies today!! I asked him why and he said it is because he loves having babies to look after. I assured him that 2 siblings were enough for him!!

Maia and Xander are still rolling all over the floor but both are making a good effort at getting on their knees. Both of them have managed to move forward even.

Joshua has started busy books at preschool. He brings home a reading book every week and is learning to write his name at the moment. He loves it!!

Time for some photos

6 months already!!

The babies are now 6 months old... wow.... when did that happen.

Joshua has been bugging us to let the babies sleep in his room since the day they came home from the hospital. Well last night the babies spent their first night in their new room with Joshua. Joshua was like a wee boy on Christmas Eve. He was grinning from ear to ear when he went to bed and whispered "I can take care of the babies now" He is a fantastic big brother. This evening Joshua and I wandered along the road to the post box and he said "Mummy... it is nice that you had the babies" Yay!! I am glad Joshua loves being a big brother as I would be lying if i said I wasn't nervous about how Joshua would adapt to not one but two new siblings.

Xander has been rolling across the room for almost a month now and Maia has finally given up trying to crawl properly for the moment and is rolling across the room now too. Yesterday Xander was in Maia's way so she just rolled on top of him and was trying very hard to get over all the while squishing poor Xander.

They are both having three meals a day now and I have managed to get both of them to eat fruit and veggies (Maia only liked veggies and Xander only liked fruit at first).
It is amazing how quickly they grow up.

There's clingons on the starboard bow....

Joshua had Grandad up to play this afternoon and they were playing with the spaceship. Grandad told Joshua to arm the torpedoes cause there were Clingons approaching and Joshua played along saying "watch out Grandad the CRAYONS are going to attack" Classic!! We then decided that the clingon home planet had to be called crayola.

Joshua loves my laptop and asked to watch his favourite Youtube clip this afternoon.

While watching it he suddenly said "I had a great idea Mummy!! This year for my birthday I can get a laptop" I laughed and said "hmm I don't think so Joshua." He went very quiet and then laughed "ahahahaha I was only joking Mummy"
Many a true word is spoken in jest so i think i know what Joshua really does want for his birthday in December (he has 12 months to change his mind as I am sure he will many many times).

Maia and Xander are both great. Xander is taking solids a couple of times a day now and Maia is still just having the odd taste now and then. They are both spending a lot of time on their stomachs trying to move forward. Maia has the physique but not the coordination whereas Xander has the coordination but is a bit heavy LOL. They look very cute and determined. Maia learnt how to blow raspberries from Aunty Julie in the weekend and tonight all your could hear coming from her cot at bedtime was raspberry after raspberry and fits of giggles - she thinks she is sooo clever. Xander doesn't blow raspberries yet but he stuck his tongue out at me this morning and then laughed - cheeky chops!!

We are off to the Doctor tomorrow for all 3 children to have their shots - wish me luck. Joshua told me he might cry - just a little bit.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!
